A Celebration of Life. What is the meaning of a celebration of life? A celebration of life honors a loved one who has recently departed. Unlike a funeral or memorial, it is a joyous occasion providing joy and comfort to family and friends alike. The event honors the deceased and celebrates their unique life. This is a warm and welcoming gathering to celebrate the unique personality and achievements of the deceased.
The service provides an opportunity for family and friends to pay a special tribute to a loved one. Likewise, we say goodbye in a uniquely personal way. The event honors the life of a loved one, typically focused on positive aspects of their life. This event also is less formal and structured than a funeral or memorial service. This is a joyful celebration rather than a ceremony dedicated to mourning.
We’ve collected some ideas below to assist you.
A Celebration of Life : Unique Ideas : Ocean Theme
A beach themed life Celebration is a fitting farewell for a love deeper than the ocean. Consider what it was your loved one appreciated about the beach; the sights, sounds, seashells, seagulls, the smell of the salty air, or the warm sun on their skin. Perhaps they loved merely gazing out into the enchanting horizon with endless possibilities in mind. Once you connect to the spirit of their beach love, you have a start to design a theme dedicated to your loved one’s specific attachments to the beach. This is a great article explaining our inherent connection to the beach as humans.
The beach theme is very versatile. You can make it bright and colorful or more natural tones- and the decor ideas are endless. Seashells, sand, rocks, sea glass and colored pebbles can be used on the tables to add to the theme. Likewise, gather any photographs of the beach or ocean that your loved one favored, and display them with other beach trinkets. And then go from there. Consider driftwood for centerpieces, grasses and shells, buckets of sand and more.
Celebrating a Loved One : Golf Theme
Looking for unique ideas to honor a loved one who loved golf? Then it is wonderful to include their passion in their memorial service. Gather clothes, pictures, golf equipment and anything else you can find that would compliment the theme. Holding the celebration of their life at a favorite clubhouse compliments the occasion well. Likewise, talk with your florist about ways to secure golf clubs on the floral display to complete the design. We also offer many golf themed celebration of life designs. Consider golf funeral guest books, memorial cards and programs featuring watercolor golf courses to assist you.
A Celebration of Life : Nautical Theme
If your beloved enjoyed sailing, or you simply enjoyed a holiday on the coast, a nautical-related funeral service may be a wonderful tribute. A popular cost-effective choice is to have an outdoor, coastal celebration. A life celebration on the water will also bring a breath of fresh air to the service. Many times, having a traditional funeral within a funeral home only makes the event that much more difficult to handle. Alternatively, consider the event being held at your favorite yacht club if that feels right to you. Decor can include creating a backdrop with sailcloth, or hanging up their favorite hat, jacket and fishing pole with a boating motif or logo. A lantern release or paddle out ceremony may also fit this celebration. We also offer lots of beautiful nautical themed decor as well.
